Oscar And The Lady In Pink - Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt, Adriana Hunter (Translator)
"Physical suffering is suffered, moral suffering is chosen."
This little book (94 pages) was very entertaining and engaging, yet heart-touching and powerful at the same time. Oscar and The Lady in Pink is a set of letters addressed to God by a ten-year-old child. It was found by Mamie Rose, the "pink lady" who comes to visit her at the children's hospital. The letters describe twelve days of Oscar's life, twelve comical and poetic days, and twelve days full of funny and moving characters. These twelve days will perhaps be the last twelve. But, thanks to Mamie Rose, who forges a solid bond of love with Oscar, these twelve days will become a legend.
Though this book is written from a child's outlook, so candid and innocent with simple language and a joyful tone, the story is so deep that it has made me reflect on my life and my thoughts many times. I strongly recommend you read this book, and I'm sure it's worth your time!
